About

The first Annual Hot Wheels Collector's Convention was in 1987, organized by Mike Strauss, the founder of the Hot Wheels Newsletter. The convention alternated between west coast locations, mostly California, and cities east of the Mississippi, always around the first week of October. In 2001 a second convention (Hot Wheels Collector's Nationals) was added in the spring and created a consistent east of the Mississippi option.

2005: 19th Convention, Irvine, CA October 5-9

  • Mustang Mach 1. Blue with Red flames. 3,500 made. 

2006: 20th Convention, Garden Grove, CA October 11-15

  • Custom Mustang. Make a Wish Charity Car.  Silver with purple and blue side stripes. No hood. Convention logo on roof. 

2010: 24th Convention, Los Angeles, CA October 13-17

  • '69 Ford Mustang. Charity Car. MF Orange with satin black hood, white "Make a Wish" logo on trunk and convention logo on roof. 

2015: 29th Convention, Marriott Los Angeles, CA. Sept. 30-Oct.4

  • '70 Mustang Boss 302. Hot Wheels Newsletter car. 310 made in Pearl White, 40 in Pearl Pink, 20 in Pearl Purple or Pearl Gold. 25 in Nickel and 10 in Pearl Light Blue.

2016: 30th Convention, Los Angeles, CA October 5-9

  • '69 Ford Mustang. Finale Car. MF Red. Silver hood and side stripe. "30" on door. Convention logo on roof.

  • Boss Hoss. RLC Party car. SF pink with White roof. White and red stripe on side.

2020: 34th Convention, Las Angeles CA CANCELLED

  • '70 Ford Mustang Boss 302. RLC Party car. SF Pink with White stripes, "Boss 302" on sides. NCRL wheels. Unknown quantity. These were going to be available at the convention only, but after cancellation were available online to members. 
Yes it's pink but one of the most gorgeous paint jobs I've seen on a diecast vehicle!

2023: 37th Collector's Convention
